– Auction Title and Description
– Item Titles, Summaries and Descriptions
Before using the Export/Upload Content features, we recommend creating a backup of your Items via the Export Items action in the Item List, as well as exporting your Auction & Item Content twice so you retain a preserved copy of your original content.
Translations and Rapid Content Updates
Natively Translated Item Content
Running a multi-national business and want to serve up translated Item details? The Auction & Item Content menu allows you to export your current Auction & Item content as a CSV Spreadsheet, with this spreadsheet containing:
- Your Auction Title and Description
- Your Item Titles, Summaries and Descriptions
You can then translate your Item Content, pick a target language and upload your translated content in just a few clicks.
Bypass Bulk Edit and make offline edits to your Items
Forgot to add a line to a few or a lot of your Items or want to make changes to your Item Content without pulling your Items into Draft status? The Webtron Dashboard’s Auction & Item Content menu has you covered.
Step 1: Navigate to the Upload/Export Item Content menu
After you’ve logged into the Webtron Dashboard, on the left-hand side of your screen in the sidebar, click the Content dropdown, and then click the Upload/Export Item Content option:
Step 2: Select an Auction and a Language
You’ll now see the Export/Upload Item Content menu, with the menu divided into two sections:
- Export
- Upload
Under Export, click the Select an Auction dropdown and click on your Auction Title:
Then next to “Language to export:” click Select and choose the language you uploaded your Auction & Item content in (the default is English):
Then lastly, click Export Item Content:
This will trigger a download of a CSV file labelled “Language-YourAuctionTitle.csv”, you can now edit the CSV in your spreadsheeting software of choice (Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, Apple Numbers, etc.)
Step 3: Editing your Item Content spreadsheet
The Item Content export is organised into 4 columns:
- Lot Number
- Title
- Summary
- Description
The second row of the spreadsheet will contain your Auction content under the Title and Description columns respectively, with your Item content appearing from Row 3 onwards:
If you have used any text formatting in your Summaries and Descriptions, such as Bold, Italics, Dot or Number points, they will appear as HTML tags like <strong>, <i>, <ul> etc., but otherwise most of your content will appear wrapped in <p> and </p> tags respectively. Edit the content within these tags by clicking on any of the cells:
Preserve these tags as best you can, as remove any of them may result in unintended changes to your Summary and Description formatting.
Step 4: Uploading your updated Item Content
Once you’ve finished editing your Item content, ensure that it is saved as a CSV, then re-open the Upload/Export Item Content menu in the Webtron Dashboard:
Under the Upload section, click Select an Auction and select your Auction Title:
Then next to “Language to export:” click Select and choose the language you uploaded your Auction & Item content in (the default is English):
If you are uploading translated Item Content, select the language your Item Content has been translated to:
Leave Abort upload on error ticked, then click Choose a file and select your updated Item Content CSV. Lastly, click the Upload Item Content button, and then click Confirm:
Depending on the size of your Auction (number of Items) it may take a few seconds to upload and apply your content changes. Once complete, you’ll see a “# line of data from the file were successfully uploaded.” confirmation message.
Your Auction and Item content changes will now be applied instantly, and your Bidders and Buyers will see the updated/translated content.
FAQs – Upload/Export Item Content
No, the Lot Numbers present in the Export are there to help you identify each individual item in your auction, any changes to the Lot Number cells will be ignored on upload.
Re-export your Item Content from the Dashboard, if there are any rows missing the Uploader will abort early and not apply any changes.
If the upload succeeded, you cannot revert the upload. We recommend exporting two copies of your Item content if you plan to make any offline changes, treat the second copy as your preserved original Item content.
Contact us via the Get in Touch page if you need another language enabled for your Portal.
No, the Dashboard will reject any files that aren’t in the CSV format
Auction and Item content uploads will only apply to Auctions in either Preview or Live status and the content will only apply for the language you have selected. Double-check the status of your Auction and the language you have selected in the Upload section before trying again.
By default, your Portal will display your Auction & Item content in the default Language we have set for your Portal. If your Auction & Item content haven’t been translated to match your browser’s language (i.e. your Item content is in English but your browser is set to Spanish), the Auction & Item content may not display correctly. To fix this, in the Upload section of Upload/Export Item Content, you can select each of the languages your Portal supports and upload the English export. All of your users will now see the English content whilst you get your Auction & Item content translated.
