Timed Auctions created in the Webtron Dashboard can be edited at any time, with all of the details you set being fully changeable (Auction Description, Bidding Extension, End Date and Time, etc.).
This guide covers all of the different Edit Auction options available for Timed Auctions, use the Contents panel to skip ahead.
We’ll go into extra detail when it comes to editing your Timed Auction’s Dates, Buyers Premium and Taxes, as these options are inherited by your Items and, if changed at the Auction level, the change must be applied to your Items separately.

Timed Auction – Auction Start & End Overview
Before we detail updating your Timed Auction Dates, we’ll briefly go over what the Auction Start Date and Auction End Date mean and how they affect when Bidding begins and ends on your Timed Auction.
Auction Starts * – This is the label of the option in the Dashboard’s Create New Timed Auction and Edit Auction Details menus for setting the start date and time of your Timed Auction.
Auction Starts sets and follows several rules, including:
- The Bidding and Buying Starting Point – The Auction Start Date and Time sets when Bidding and Buying will open for your Timed Auction’s Lots and Listings.
- Auction Visibility – Your Timed Auction can be made publicly visible on your Portal at any time before the Auction Starts date and time, as long as the Timed Auction is in Live status and at least one Lot or one Listing is also in Live status.
- Fully Editable (including accidental Time Travel) – The Auction Starts options for your Timed Auction can be edited at any point via the Edit Auction Details menu, and the Date and Time options can be brought forward to a prior date*, today’s date or set at a later date.
Auction Ends * – This the label of the option in the Dashboard’s Create New Timed Auction and Edit Auction Details menus for setting the end date and time of your Timed Auction.
Auction Ends sets and follows several rules, including:
- The Bidding and Buying Closing Point – The Auction End Date and Time sets when your Lots and Listings will begin to close.
- Bidding Extension – The Auction End Time is set universally across all Lots and Listings in that Auction, but if bidding activity continues on a Lot in it’s final minutes, Bidding Extension will keep that Lot open until bidding activity ceases. The duration of the Bidding Extension is set by you and can be edited via the General Settings tab of the Edit Auction Details menu. Lots and Listings close independently of each other, so whilst Lot 1 may be in Bidding Extension (or Overtime Bidding as it’s labelled on your Portal), Lot 2 will close at it’s set End Time if it doesn’t receive any last-minute bids.
- Stagger End Times – The Auction End Time is set universally across all Lots and Listings, but if you enable Stagger End Times, the Auction End Time will act as a base whilst the Lot and Listing End Times will change based on your Stagger End Times settings.
- Fully Editable (but not in a vacuum) – The Auction Ends options for your Timed Auction can be edited at any point via the Edit Auction Details menu, but, any changes will need to be manually applied to that Auction’s Lots and Listings as well. Lots and Listings will retain their original End Date and Time until you pull your entire Item List (or just Lot 1 if you are using Stagger End Times) into Bulk Edit and clear their existing End Date and Time via Group Edit.

Editing your Timed Auction Buyers Premium and Taxes
If you have already created your Timed Auction and it is sitting in Preview or Live status, you can fully edit all of that Auction’s details at any stage, even after the Auction Starts Date if necessary. This guide specifically covers editing a Timed Auction’s Buyers Premium and Taxes.
If it is necessary for you to edit the Buyers Premium or Tax percentages (either because of an error or by request of the Auctioneer/Vendor/Consignor etc.) we recommend adding a line to your Auction Description to inform your Bidders of these changes.
Step 1: Opening the Edit Auction Details menu
To begin editing your Timed Auction, on the left-hand side of your screen you’ll find the Dashboard sidebar, click on the Auctions & Items dropdown, then click View Auctions.
Step 2: Click on your Auction Title, or click Actions then Edit
From the View Auctions menu, there are two ways to open the Edit Auction menu, the quickest method is to click the Actions button on the right-hand side of the page, and then click Edit:
Or, you can click on your Auction’s Title to open the Auction Details menu, then click the Edit Auction button at the top-left of the menu:
Step 3: Editing your Buyers Premium and Tax percentages in the General Settings tab
Upon clicking the blue Edit button on the View Auctions page, the Dashboard will load for a moment and display the Edit Auction Details menu. You’ll land on the General Settings tab by default, this tab contains your Buyers Premium and Tax percentages:
The Buyers Premium and all three Tax fields (Hammer Tax rate, BP Tax rate, and Charges Tax rate) all follow the same rules, to edit any of the four fields, left-click into them:
Your Buyers Premium and Tax percentages must follow this format: “15.00” or a number, a dot point and two decimal numbers. Do not add a % symbol, just the value:
Step 4: Save your changes
Once you’ve finished editing your Buyers Premium percentage and/or Additional Taxes, click the blue Save Auction button at the bottom-right of your screen:
The Dashboard will return you to the View Auctions page and you’ll see a blue Auction saved successfully confirmation message at the top of your screen. You must now apply the same changes to the Items in that Auction via Bulk Edit.
Applying Buyers Premium and Tax changes to your Items
If you make any changes to your Timed Auction’s Buyers Premium or additional Taxes after uploading and converting your Items, you must apply the same Buyers Premium and Tax changes to your Items manually via Bulk Edit. Don’t worry, it’s a quick and simple process and, depending on the size of your Item list, can be achieved in less than 2 minutes.
Step 1 – Open the Item List and Draft all Items
On the Auctions & Items > View Auctions page, look towards the middle-right of the Auctions table. Under the column labelled Items, click the # items link for your Timed Auction:
The Dashboard will now load the Item List for this Auction and display it inside the Item List table. Look to the right-hand side of the Item List table, under the Status column check which status your Items are currently in:
If they are in any status other than Draft, tick the Select All checkbox at the top-left of the Item List table, then click the grey Draft action button above the table (2nd button from the left):
The Dashboard will now display a loading wheel. Depending on the size of your Item List, it may take up to 30 seconds for your Items to move back to Draft status. Once the Dashboard finishes loading, the Status column should now show all Items in Draft status:
Step 2 – Pull your Items into Bulk Edit, Select All and use Group Edit
Once your Items are all in Draft status, their Select checkboxes at the left-hand edge of the Item List table will remain ticked (selected), click on the grey Bulk Edit button above the table (3rd button from the left) to pull your selected Items into the Bulk Edit menu:
The Dashboard will load for a moment then display your Item List inside the Bulk Edit table. Look to the top-left of the Bulk Edit table for another Select All checkbox, click on the top-most checkbox to select all of your Items again:
Once selected, look to the right-hand side of the menu, just above the Bulk Edit table you’ll find a small row of grey buttons;
- Validate
- Group Edit
- Export
- End-to-End (Switch Table Ends)
Click on the Group Edit button (2nd button from the left):
The Group Edit Selected Items panel will appear at the centre of your screen, this panel contains a list of each of the Bulk Edit columns from Category to Location. You’ll find the Buyers Premium and Additional Tax Rate options from the 5th option down:
At the end of each option is a checkbox, tick the checkbox(es) of the options you need to update, but leave the field next to each checkbox blank. After ticking the options you need to update, click the blue Save button at the bottom of the panel:
Scroll or drag the horizontal scroll bar slightly to the right, you should now see the selected columns have updated to match your Timed Auction’s Buyers Premium and Additional Tax values:
Click the green Save and Finish button at the top-left of the Bulk Edit menu to apply your changes:
Step 3 (Optional) – Return your Lots to Preview or Live status
After clicking Save and Finish, your changes will be applied to your Items and you’ll be returned to the Item List menu.
If your Items are still in Draft status and you need to return them to Preview status, click the Select All checkbox at the top-left of the Item List, then click the grey Validate button above the table (5th button from the left), then click on the green Confirm button inside the Confirmation panel:
The Dashboard will load for a moment and move your Items forward to Preview status.
If you also need to return your Items to Live status, click the Select All checkbox at the top-left of the Item List, then click the grey Approve button above the table (6th button from the left), then click the green Confirm button inside the Confirmation panel:
The Dashboard will load for a moment and move your Items forward to Live status.
Saving your Auction Details
Once you’ve completed editing your Timed Auction, click the blue Save Auction button at bottom-right of the Edit Auctions Details menu.
If you have mis-filled any of the fields or options inside the Edit Auction Details tabs, the Webtron Dashboard will highlight your errors and provide a hyperlink to the option that isn’t set or filled in correctly.
If there are no errors, you will land back on the View Auctions page and see a yellow message at the top of the Webtron Dashboard confirming that your “Auction saved successfully.”
