Creating and Importing Webcast Lots

Webcast Lots – Webcast Item Types Explained

Estimated reading: 3 minutes

Item Types available for Webcast Auctions

For Webcast Auctions, there is only one available Item Type – Webcast Lot, or just Webcast.

When selecting the Item Type in the Webtron Dashboard’s Item Creation menu, the Webcast Lot Item Type is labelled simply as Webcast. When assigning the Item Type in the Lotting spreadsheet template, you must enter Webcast Lot as WEBCAST in all caps.

Webcast Lots – Purchase Options

Unlike their Timed Auction Lot counterpart, Webcast Lots only support the None (NONE) Purchase Option, meaning that:

  • Webcast Lots only support Bidding on the Increment and setting an Auto Bid/Commission Bid amount.
  • Webcast Lots do not support the Buy Now or Make Offer Purchase Options.

Webcast Lots – Special Conditions and Features

Webcast Lots support mid-auction Invoicing

Webcast Lots share a similar trait to their Timed Auction Listing counterpart, in that, when a Webcast Lot is marked as Sold by the Webcast Clerk, it is automatically moved to Reconciled status, enabling you to Generate Invoices whilst your Webcast Auction is still running in the Live Bidding phase.

Unsold Webcast Lots can be exported via Bulk Edit

Webcast Lots marked as Passed (Unsold) by the Webcast Clerk can also be Drafted and edited via Bulk Edit, also enabling a quick way to export Unsold Webcast Lot data prior to Reconciling your Auction.

Webcast Lots support Quantities and Per-Item or Per-Lot Bidding

Webcast Lots share a similar trait with their Timed Lot counterpart, in that, a Webcast Lot can be given a quantity value or greater than 1. This servers one of two purposes, in this case, Bidding Type:

  1. Per Item (Bidding Type) – Per Item is additional Bidding Type available for Webcast Lots with a quantity greater than 1. Setting Per Item as the Bidding Type means a Bidder will be bidding the Increment x the Quantity value. For example, a Webcast Lot using Per Item bidding, $25 Increments and a quantity of 4 will display Bid 4 x $25 = $100 on the Bid button. Essentially, the Bidder is bidding a price for each individual Item (Quantity) assigned to that Webcast Lot.
  2. Per Lot (Bidding Type) – Per Lot is the default Bidding Type, and when a Webcast Lot has been given a quantity greater than 1, the Bidder will win the entire set quantity for that Lot for one price.

Per Item is Greater than 1 – Per Item requires the Quantity for that Webcast Lot be set to a number greater than 1.

Webcast Lots support Grouping and Choice

Webcast Lots can also be Grouped by Webcast Clerk during the Live Bidding phase, allowing you to bundle multiple Webcast Lots into a single Group Lot, which can then be auctioned and sold for:

  • One Money – A single price for all Webcast Lots in the Group.
  • Per Lot – A price multiplied by the number of Webcast Lots in the Group (Asking Price/Hammer x Number of Lots = Price).
  • Per Item – A price multiplied by the set Item quantities of each Webcast Lot in the Group (Asking Price/Hammer x combined Lot Quantities = Price).

Webcast Lot Groups support either Choice (Full) or Choice (None):

  • Choice (Full) – the Winning Bidder can choose which Lots in the Group they would like to take, and leave Lots they are not interested in unchosen. Chosen Lots they choose are sold to them, Unchosen Lots are moved to a new Group.
  • Choice (None) – the Winning Bidder must take all Lots in the Group.
  • Choice (Numerical Order) – Numerical Order is currently unsupported, we recommend not choosing this option when creating a Webcast Lot Group.
