Definition – Webcast Auction, or Webcast for short, is the term for our Live Webcast Auction auction type. A Webcast Auction enables an Auctioneer to livestream to their Portal (Video and Audio, or just Audio) and auction off their Webcast Lots one at a time, or in Groups of Webcast Lots. A Webcast Auction has an optional Enable Pre-Bidding toggle but functions mainly with a defined Start Date and Time and a Livestream component. The Webcast Start Date and Time controls when the Webcast Auction will move from Live (Pre-Bidding) phase to the Live (Live Bidding) phase. The first Live phase is the Live (Pre-Bidding) phase, this phase displays the Webcast Auction in Catalogue view, like that of a Timed Auction (with the option to toggle Enable Pre-Bidding or allow viewing only). The second Live phase is the Live (Live Bidding) phase, the Webcast Auction transitions to the Live Webcast view, whereby each Webcast Lot is presented to the Bidders in the Ring one at a time or multiple Webcast Lots can be displayed as a Group, with upcoming Lots and Sold or Passed Lots displayed below the Ring in two lists, Open and Closed. The Webcast Clerk controls the Lot and Group in the Ring by setting Asking Price, the Bidding Increment, Bidding on behalf of the Floor, and accepting Commission Bids at the behest of the Auctioneer.

Webcast Clerk Controls

Manual Incr. – Manual Incr. or Manual Increments refers to a checkbox and function located just below the Increments column on the Clerking Screen. When checked/ticked, the Clerk has full control over switching between Increments. When unchecked, the Clerking Console will follow your Auto-Increments table as set on your Auctioneer Profile, with Increment changes fully automated for the Clerk. You can ask me how Auto-Increments work and how to set them, I can walk you through it if you have the relevant Client Administrator access.

Add Increment – Add Increment refers to a text box and function located just below the Increments column on the Clerking Console. Typing out a new value and hitting Enter (or Return) will add that value to your Increment list permanently. Clicking Reset at the top of the List will remove all added increments and revert the list to your Default Increments set in your Auctioneer Profile.

Hammer – Hammer refers to a text box and function located just above the Lot in Ring Controls on the Clerking Console. The Hammer field will show the Current Highest Bid amount, but you can also click into the field (or press SHIFT and H on your keyboard), type out a new value (whole numbers only, no decimals or commas) then hit Enter (or Return) to set that amount as the new Hammer value/Current Highest Bid.

Asking Price – Asking Price refers to a text box and function located just above the Lot in Ring Controls on the Clerking Console. The Asking Price field will show the Current Highest Bid + the set Increment, matching that of the value on the Bid button the Bidders see on your Portal. Same as the Hammer field, you can also click into the field (or hit SHIFT and A on your keyboard), type out a new value (whole numbers only, no decimals or commas) then hit Enter (or Return) to set that amount as the new Asking Price.

Fair Warning – Fair Warning refers to a button and function found on the Lot in Ring Controls on the Clerking Console. If an Auctioneer calls “Going Once, Going Twice, Going Third and Final Time” or some variation of a countdown, you can click Fair Warning (or press the letter W on your keyboard). Each Click deploys the first, then second, then third and final warning to all Underbidders and Viewers on the Live Auction page. The Fair Warning button will reset if another bid is entered by the Clerk or another Online Bid is received.

Undo – Undo refers to a button and function found on the Lot in Ring Controls on the Clerking Console. Once the Clerk hits Sell on a Lot, the Undo button will enable, allowing the Clerk to quickly re-open the Lot or correct a mistaken button press (Same as Undo Bid, the keyboard shortcut is the letter U).

Floor Bid (Clerk Control) – Floor Bid refers to both a button and Bid Type found on the Clerking Console. The button serves the function of converting the Current Highest Online Bid into a Floor Bid, should the Auctioneer decide to accept a Floor Bid over an Online Bid. The Bid Type is a bid placed manually by the Clerk representing a bid accepted on-location. Any bids placed by the Clerk (or a Client Administrator with the Reserve Bidder privilege) will show as Floor Bidder in the Bid History section of the Clerking Console, as well as on the Auctioneer and Room Screens.

Sell – Sell refers to a button and function found on the Lot in Ring Controls on the Clerking Console. Clicking Sell (or pressing the S key on your keyboard) will place the Item in Sold status, but will now give you the choice of proceeding to the next item by clicking Next (or pressing the S key on your keyboard again), Undo to open the Item back up to bidding (the U key), or Remove from Sale to clear the Ring.

Pass & Next – Pass & Next, or Pass and Next, refers to a button and function found on the Lot in Ring Controls on the Clerking Console. If an Item receives no bids or does not meet its Reserve, the Clerk can click Pass & Next (or press SHIFT and P on your keyboard) to place the Item in Passed status and move straight to the next Item in the Lot Order.

Re-Offer – Re-Offer refers to a button and function found on the Lot in Ring Controls on the Clerking Console. Re-Offer is one of only two buttons on the Clerking Console that requires confirmation, as Re-Offer will cancel all bids and reset the Item back to a Hammer Price of 0 and an Asking Price matching that of the Increment. Unless a catastrophic error has occurred, do not click Re-Offer unless absolutely necessary.

Undo Bid – Undo Bid refers to a button and function found on the Lot in Ring Controls on the Clerking Console. Undo Bid allows the Clerk to Cancel the Current Highest Bid, either by clicking Undo Bid or pressing the U key on your Keyboard. Undo Bid can be hit as many times as needed to Cancel several bids in rapid succession and works on both Online and Floor Bids. If hit by mistake, click Reinstate in the Bid History to redo the Cancelled Bid.

Remove from Sale – Remove from Sale refers to a button and function found on the Lot in Ring Controls on the Clerking Console. Clicking Remove from Sale (or pushing SHIFT and M on your keyboard) will pull the Current Lot out of the Ring and enable the Send button on all Lots remaining under the Lot Listing tab. If you meant to ask for information on how to Delete an Item, please ask How do I delete an Item.

Pause Bidding – Pause Bidding refers to a button and function located on the bottom-left of the Clerking Console. Clicking Pause Bidding (or pressing the P key on your keyboard) will simply freeze the Bid button for Online Bidders, the pause button will now say Resume Bidding and you can click it to open it back up (or press the P key again). Pause Bidding is useful for if you need to set up an Item, such as changing the Asking Price or Increment, without any Online Bids interrupting the changeover.

Webcast Clerk Settings

Webcast Clerk Settings – Webcast Clerk Settings is a term that refers to the Settings panel located at the top-right of the Clerking Console. This panel allows the Clerk to Start the Auction early (roll the Auction from Pre-Bidding to Live Phase on the Portal), Pause the Auction, Configure and Publish a Live Feed, open the Auctioneer and Room Screens and find the Clerking Keyboard Shortcuts list.

A Webcast Lot is used to denote that this Item is to be included in a Live Webcast Auction, and support Standard Bidding; Bids on the Increment, Auto Bids (Pre-Bidding phase) and Commission Bids (Live Bidding phase). Whitelisted Bidders are marked with a yellow Star symbol on the Users list and Registrants list.

Xg Rates – Xg Rates or Exchange Rates is a tem that refers to the Xg Rates panel located at the top-right of the Clerking Console.
