Setting Webcast Auction Dates Explained

In the Webtron Dashboard, setting the important dates for your Auctions differs in layout and options between our two primary Auction Types, this guide will explain each of the available fields for both Auction Types, use the Chapter list on the right-hand side of the guide to skip ahead, but first we’ll cover the accessing the Dates tab and the Time Zone option.

Dates tab (Auction Details menu)

Definition – the Dates tab inside the Auction Details menu is where you will set the important dates for your Auction. Depending on your chosen Auction Type, the Dates will require different details, to simplify this we’ll divide it up into how the Dates tab is formatted for Timed Auctions and Webcast Auctions after Time Zone:

Time Zone *

Definition – Time Zone * (Auction Details) – Time Zone is a dropdown list inside the Dates tab of the Auction Details menu that lets you set the specific Time Zone your Auction will be run from.

Auction Details menu – Setting Auction Dates – Webcast Auction layout

Webcast Start Time *

The Webcast Start Time settings control when your Webcast Auction will transition from the Live (Pre-Bidding phase) to the Live (Live Bidding phase). The Webcast Start Time is divided into 2 settings, Webcast Start Date and Webcast Start Time.
RequiredYes*A Webcast Start Date and Time must be set in order to Save your Auction. You can change the Start Date or Time at any stage before the Auction reaches it’s set Start Time.
Required FormattingYesWe recommend using the Calendar pop-up and clicking a date in the month that appears or using the left and right arrow at the top right of the panel to cycle forward and backward through the Months.

Otherwise the Start Date can be typed out manually using the YYYY-MM-DD or Year-Month-Day format (i.e. 2025-03-01 is March 1st 2025).

Start Time is set by choosing options from the Hour (h) and Minute (m) dropdown lists.
VisibilityPublicYour Portal will automatically show the Auction Starts Date and Time you set for your Auction to the Bidder’s local timezone (based on their device’s default timezone).
Setting FlexibilityPartialWebcast Start Time can only be set on a per-auction basis, all Items within that Auction will follow the set Start Date and Time.

Minute (Webcast Start Time option)Dropdown options listThe Minute (m) dropdown contains 60 minute time options separated into 5 minute increments, i.e. 00 is on the hour, 05 is 5 minutes past the hour. Clicking one of these options will set it as the Minute for your Webcast Start Time.

Enable Webcast Pre-Bidding

Enable Webcast Pre-BiddingCheckbox toggle (off/unticked by default)Enable Webcast Pre-Bidding (Auction Details) – Enable Webcast Pre-Bidding is a checkbox inside the Dates tab.

The Enable Webcast Pre-Bidding checkbox controls whether Pre-Bidding is available prior to your set Webcast Start Time.
RequiredNoEnable Webcast Pre-Bidding is completely optional and is turned off by default, but can toggled on or off at any point prior to your Webcast Start Time.
Webtron RecommendsEnable Webcast Pre-BiddingWebtron recommends using Webcast Pre-Bidding as it gives your Bidders the opportunity to leave absentee Bids and Auto Bid/Commission Bid maximums if they cannot attend the Live Bidding phase.
VisibilityPartialIf disabled, your Bidders will not see any Bid buttons on your Webcast Lots during the Pre-Bidding phase. If enabled, the Bid and Place Auto Bid buttons will appear on each Webcast Lot.
ConditionalRequires a set Increment or Opening Bid.Goes without saying but if you do intend to Enable Webcast Pre-Bidding, we heavily recommend finalising your Opening Bids and Increments prior to turning Pre-Bidding on.
