In this guide we’ll be covering how to edit the Title, Summary and Description fields for your Items in the Webtron Dashboard’s Bulk Edit menu.
Item Status Notice This guide covers how to edit your Items after they have been converted from Ghost status to Preview status. If your items are still in Ghost status, you can edit them the same way as specified in this guide, but you’ll need to click the # ghost items link on the View Auctions page instead of using Bulk Edit.
Editing Items Pre-Requisites
To edit your items in the Bulk Edit menu, you’ll first need to:
Ensure your Items have been converted from Ghost status to Preview status
Open the Item List for your Auction
Move your Items from their current status to Draft status
If your Items are already in either Draft or Preview status, skip to Step 1. If your Items are in Live status, select them using the checkboxes at the left-hand edge of the Item List table, then click the Draft action above the table:
Item Visibility Warning When moved from Live to Draft status, your selected Items will temporarily disappear from your Portal. They will only re-appear and re-open for bidding/purchase once they are moved back from Draft/Preview to Live status.
Step 1: Opening your Items in Bulk Edit
Once you’ve opened your Item List and moved your Items to Draft status, use the checkboxes at the left-hand edge of the Item List table to select the Items you’d like to edit, then click the Bulk Edit action above the Item List table:
The Bulk Edit menu will now load and display your selected Items inside a table.
Step 2: Editing your Item Title
Inside the Bulk Edit table, you’ll find the Item Title as the 4th column (simply labelled Title):
Click on one of your items to open the fields for that row, then click on the item’s existing title to edit or remove the content as needed:
Your item titles can be up to 250 characters long, but we recommend 120 characters max or 1 sentence.
Step 3: Editing your Item Summary and/or Description
Inside the Bulk Edit table, you’ll find the Item Summary and Item Description as separate columns next to the Item Title (the 5th and 6th columns respectively).
Click on either the Summary or Description fields to open the Item Summary and Description panel:
The Item Summary and Description panel contains two fields for the Summary and Description respectively, both fields are optional and can be left blank, otherwise click into either of the two fields to begin adding content:
Adding Formatting and Styling to your Summaries and Descriptions
Both the Item Summary and Description fields support Rich Text Formatting, such as:
Hold left click and highlight/select the text you’d like to format, then use the controls above each field to add rich text formatting.
Click B to bold your text, i to italicise it, or S to add a strikethrough:
Click the Dot Point or Number Point icons to format your selected text as Dot Points or Number Points:
Highlight the text you’d like to add a link to, then click the 🔗 hyperlink icon and add a URL, set the Target to Open in a New Window and click Insert:
Click the horizontal line to add a divider where your ticker (the flashing line) is currently positioned:
Click the Paragraph dropdown to change the formatting of your text to a Heading or other:
Custom HTML Warning The Custom HTML field can be used to add advanced formatting to your Descriptions, such as Tables. We do not recommend using the Custom HTML field if you are not familiar with basic HTML formatting. The Custom HTML field also does not support in-line styles or Javascript, any CSS or styling code will be removed on save.
Copy-Paste Recommendation
If you are copy-pasting your item content from an external source (such as another website, PDF or CSV spreadsheet) we recommend using the Paste without Formatting shortcut to prevent any formatting issues within your Summary and Description.
On Windows, to paste without formatting, press CTRL SHIFT V on your keyboard.
On macOS, to paste without formatting, press Command SHIFT V on your keyboard.
Once you’ve added or edited your Item Summary and Description content, click Save at the bottom of the panel to apply your changes:
Step 4: Saving your changes
To finalise your changes to your item content, above the top-left of the Bulk Edit table, click the Save and Finish button. A Confirmation Request panel will appear at the centre of your screen, click Save to proceed:
You’ll now be returned to the Item List menu and you’ll see the “Editing successfully completed” confirmation message at the top of your screen.
If your items were in Live status prior to being pulled into Bulk Edit, they may be moved back to Live status for you automatically or moved to Preview status.
If your items aren’t returned to Live status, use the checkboxes at the left-hand edge of the Item List table to select your Items, then click the Approve action above the Item List (if your items are Draft status, use the Validate action first to move your Items to Preview status):
