Ejecting a Bidder – Suspending Bidder Auction Registrations
Estimated reading: 4 minutes
If you are having issues with a troublesome Bidder, you have the ability to immediately eject them from a specific Auction and prevent them from placing any further Bids on that Auction, we call this Suspending an Auction Registration.
An Auction-specific Ban – Suspending a Bidder’s Auction Registration will simply prevent them from placing any further bids on that specific Auction. Suspensions are actioned on a per-Auction basis, but we recommend considering Banning/Locking their account outright.
Locked but not Suspended – If a Bidder’s account has been Locked but they are currently logged in, the Lock will not take affect until their current login session expires and they try to log in to your Portal again. The steps inside this Guide detail ejecting a Bidder from an Auction and preventing them from placing Bids on any Items on each Auction they are registered for. If you have recently Locked a Bidder’s account, we heavily recommend Suspending their Auction registrations as well.
Step 1 – Accessing a Bidder’s Auction Registration History
The quickest and easiest method for Suspending a Bidder from an Auction is to first open the Webtron Dashboard, then navigate to the Users & Groups > Users menu.
Once your Bidder list has finished loading, click the yellow Modify Filter button at the top-left of the menu, click the red X next to Account Created Between, and use the Modify Filter options to search for the Bidder, either by their First and Last Name, Email Address, Username. Hit Enter or click the blue Apply button at the bottom of the Modify Filter panel to apply your Filter options.
Any Bidders matching your Filters will now appear in the Bidder list table, click their Username to open their Bidder profile.
Across the top of their Bidder profile you will see a row of blue Tab options, look to the middle of the row for the blue tab labelled Auctions. Click the blue Auctions tab to open their Auction Registration History.
Step 2 – Suspending a Bidder’s Auction Registration
The Auctions tab will display all of the Auctions this Bidder has registered for in a table. Look to the right-hand side of the tab for the Actions column. Beneath the Actions column you will find a series of blue hyperlink options, including one labelled ‘suspend’.
Click the blue ‘suspend’ hyperlink, this will open the Registrant Status Change panel. Here you will need to provide a reason why you are suspending this Bidder’s Auction Registration, this reason will be recorded by the Bidder’s Audit Trail for future reference.
After providing a reason, click the blue OK button at the bottom of the Registrant Status Change panel.
The Bidder will immediately see all Bid and Place Autobid buttons on your Portal lock out, and an “Auction Registration Suspended” message will appear on their screen. They will also automatically be sent a follow-up email confirming their Auction Registration has been Suspended. We recommend repeating this process if you have multiple Auctions running and they are registered for them as well.
From here you have two options:
You can manually Approve the Bidder’s Auction Registration to restore their ability to bid on that Auction, or
Multiple Options for Managing Registrations – Whilst this guide covers Suspending a Bidder’s Auction Registration inside their Bidder profile, you can also change a Bidder’s Auction Registration status in the Auction Registrations menu. We recommend the method covered in this guide as it helps expedite the process of Suspending a Bidder from multiple Auctions.
