When it comes to editing your Timed Lot and Listing content, we heavily recommend using the Bulk Edit menu, even if you are editing just one Item.
We define Item Content as the following fields:
Title – the Title of your Lot or Listing
Summary – the 2-3 sentence Summary of your Lot or Listing
Description – the long-form and format-able Description of your Lot or Listing
These are the broader descriptive fields for your Item; how you would describe the Item, useful or relevant technical detail and any information you feel is relevant for your Bidders. Fields like Category, Vendor, Opening Bid, Purchase Option, Increment, Reserve etc. are more Auction Technical fields, whereas Item Content is more broadly related to how you would describe the Item.
Editing Lot Numbers – Whilst we count Lot Numbers as part of the Item Content, we have a separate dedicated guide to editing Lot Numbers, as the process of doing so is delicate. Please do not edit your Lot Numbers without first reading that guide.
If you need to update the Item Content you set when either initially Creating or Importing your Items, follow the steps detailed below:
Editing Item Content
Step 1 – Opening the Item List and Drafting your Items
To edit your Item Title, Summary, or Description, you’ll first need to navigate to the View Auctions page by clicking Auctions & Items > View Auctions.
Once on the View Auctions page, under the Items column inside the Auctions table, click the # items link to open the Item List for that Timed Auction:
After the Item List finishes loading, look to the left-hand edge of the Item List table and tick the checkbox of the Item(s) to select them. Once selected, click the grey Draft button above the table and then click Confirm to move your Items back to Draft status:
Step 2 – Opening the Bulk Edit menu and Editing your Item Content
After you click Confirm, the Dashboard will reload and show your Items in Draft status, but they will remain selected (their checkbox will still show as ticked. All you need to do now is click the grey Bulk Edit button above the Item List table:
Your selected Item(s) will now move into the Bulk Edit menu, from here you’ll see the following Columns in this order:
Select Checkbox
Type
Lot #
Title
Summary
Description
Category
Vendor
We’ll be focussing on the bolded columns listed above. To edit the Title of your Lot or Listing, simply click into the field below the Title column. Once selected, you can backspace or delete any existing details, and type out or paste any new details you’d like to add to the Title for this Lot or Listing:
To edit the Summary and/or Description, click on either of the fields that appear below the Summary and Description columns, this will open a panel containing both the Summary and Description fields:
Summary and Descriptions can be formatted more richly than the Title, with options to Bold, Italicise and format your Description in Dot and Number Point formatting, like this:
Dot Point Formatting
Number Point Formatting
And Headings, like this:
Heading (H1 size)
Heading (H2 size)
Heading (H3 size)
Whilst the Summary and Description offer both formatting options, we recommend using only Bold and Italics in the Summary, as that appears below the Title and a longer Summary may cause the Summary to be cut-off (…).
Click in to either of the Summary or Descriptions field and edit the existing content, or paste in new content and click the blue Save button to apply your changes:
Paste Recommendation – Since the Summary and Description fields can be formatted, anything you paste into those fields will retain the formatting from where they were copied from, e.g. if something you’ve pasted was in a table or bolded, the pasted content will still be formatted the same. To prevent formatting issues, we recommend choosing the “Paste without Formatting” option in your right-click menu, or press CTRL SHIFT V to paste without formatting.
After making your Content changes, tick your Item(s) using the checkboxes at the left-hand edge of the Bulk Edit table, then click the green Save and Finish button at the top-left, then click Confirm at the top-left of the Bulk Edit menu:
Step 3 (Optional) – Move your Items back to Live status
After clicking Save and Finish, you’ll be returned to the Item List and your Items may be placed in Preview status:
If not automatically moved to Live status, select the Items again using the checkboxes at the left-hand edge of the Item List table, then click the grey Approve button above the table, then click Confirm:
Your Items will now be moved back into Live status and be visible on your Portal again.
