Uploading Photos Item-by-Item through Bulk Edit

v1.0.0
3 min readUpdated March 9, 2026

As an alternative to Bulk Upload Images, the Bulk Edit menu offers you the option to upload images directly to each Item.

Why use Bulk Edit instead of Bulk Upload Images

Bulk Edit has the slight edge over Bulk Upload Images in one regard, softer file name requirements.

As a quick reminder, Bulk Upload Images requires your Image files to be renamed following this structure:

  • Lot 1
    • 1.jpg (Primary Image)
    • 1-1.jpg
    • 1-2.jpg

On the other hand, Bulk Edit will accept images in shoot order (typically alphabetical or numerical order), so if you have a set of images like this:

  • Lot 1
    • DSC_0014.JPEG
    • DSC_0015.JPEG
    • DSC_0016.JPEG

DSC_0014 will be accepted as the Primary Image for Lot 1.

Accessing and Uploading Images via the Attachments panel in Bulk Edit

Prerequisites

First, you’ll need to ensure the following:

  1. Your Items have been converted from Ghost to Preview status
  2. Your Items are currently in Draft or Preview status

If your Items are in Live status, you must use the Draft action to pull them back to Draft status, as Items in Live status cannot be edited.

Step 1: Navigate to your Item List and Draft your Items

To get started, click the Auctions & Items dropdown in the Dashboard sidebar, then click View Auctions:

Once the View Auctions menu opens, inside the Auctions table, click on the # Items link under the Items column to open the Item List for that Auction:

After your Item List loads, tick the checkbox at the top-left of the Items table to select all Items, or use the checkbox at the left-hand edge of the Items table to select just the Items you would like to draft:

Once selected, click on the Draft button in the Actions bar above the Items table:

Step 2: Open the Bulk Edit menu and switch ends to open the Attachments panel

The Item List will reload and your selected Items will be moved to Draft status. Your Items will remain selected, so all you have to do now is click on the Bulk Edit button in the Actions bar above the Items table:

The Dashboard will now load the Bulk Edit menu, with each of your selected Items will appear as a row in the Bulk Edit table. Click on the Left-Right arrows above the top-right of the Bulk Edit table to switch to the other end of the Bulk Edit table:

You’ll now see a column labelled Media, click any of the icons beneath the Media column to open the Attachments panel for that Item:

Step 3: Click Choose Files or Drag-and-Drop your Images into the Attachments panel

The Attachments panel will now appear at the centre of your screen. You can now add Images directly to this Item, either by clicking Choose Files, or by dragging and dropping your Images into the Attachments panel:

Once you’ve added all of your Image files (and any additional attachments such as PDFs, or YouTube embed links) click the Save button at the bottom of the panel:

Your chosen Images will now upload to this Item and the panel will disappear upon completion:

Repeat the process as needed with your other selected Items, then click Save and Finish at the top-left of the Bulk Edit menu to finalise adding your Images:
