To save your Bidders from any confusion, we recommend disabling the Link integration in your Stripe’s Payment Methods settings.
Why disable Link?
During our testing phase and initial rollout of the Verification Module, the most common and crucial bits of feedback we received from Bidders was:
The “Checkout” wording in the Link dropdown was confusing and Bidders were worried they would be charged to register for the Auction.
We found that disabling Link in Stripe’s Settings drastically reduced those reports and helped streamline the Verification process even further, especially for older Bidders.
Navigating to your Stripe Payment Methods settings
Step 1 – Open the Stripe settings menu and click Payments
Once you’re logged into the Stripe Dashboard, from the Home page look to the top-right of your screen and click on the Settings button:
The Stripe Settings menu will now appear, look to the centre of your screen, inside the Product Settings section click the Payments option (middle row, 2nd option from the left):
Step 2 – Navigate to the Payment methods tab and open your Default Payment Configuration
Once the Payments menu loads, look towards the top of the menu for a row of tabs. Click on the tab labelled Payment methods (typically the 2nd tab from the left):
You’ll now see the Payment methods menu. Payment methods contains a table with 4 columns;
Payment configuration
Status
Configuration ID
Last updated
Look under the Payment configuration column, one row should be labelled Default with a storefront icon next to it, if it says “Your configuration” under Default and says Active under the Status column, click on that row:
Step 3 – Turn off Link (Payment Method)
After clicking on your active configuration, you’ll now see a list of supported Payment Methods listed in alphabetical order. Scroll down the page until you see the Link option (it’s icon is green background and an arrow pointing to the right):
Click on Link and a pop-out panel will appear from the right-hand side of your screen. Look to the top-right of your screen, just under the Panel Heading you’ll see two buttons, “Advanced Settings” and “Turn off“. Click Turn off:
A pop-up confirmation panel will appear at the centre of your screen, click on the “Next” button, you’ll now see a list of checkboxes asking why you want to turn off Link, tick any of the options listed, then click Turn off Link at the bottom-right of the panel:
The Link pop-out will now display a Disabled badge.
