Manually Translating your Auction Content

Estimated reading: 3 minutes

After you have Created your Auction and either created your Items in-Dashboard or uploaded them via CSV, your Auction and Item content will become available for manual translation.

Content > Export/Upload Item Content Explained

To Export your Auction’s Item Content, in the Webtron Dashboard sidebar, click the Content dropdown, then click the Export/Upload Item Content option:

You’ll now see the Content menu, separated into two panels:

  1. Export
  2. Upload

Exporting Item Content

To export your Auction’s Item Content, use the Select an Auction dropdown at the top of the menu to choose your Auction:

After that, choose the language your Auction content is currently in (the default is English), then click Export Item Content:

The Webtron Dashboard will now generate and download a CSV Spreadsheet containing the Auction Title and Description, as well as every Title, Summary and Description for all Items in that Auction:

Item Content Backup
We recommend clicking Export Item Content for a second time to generate an additional copy of your Item Content, this export file will act as a backup that you can re-upload, should any errors or mistakes occur and you need to revert back to your original Item Content.

CSV Formatting for Upload
When re‑uploading the Item Content CSV, don’t change the column headings or layout. Make edits and translations only within existing cells. Uploads with the wrong number of columns or rows (based on the template and your Auction’s Item count) will be rejected.

Uploading Translated Item Content

After exporting and translating your Item Content, the spreadsheet template can then be re-imported through the Upload section of the Export/Upload Item Content menu.

To do this, open the menu and (inside the Upload section) click on the Select an Auction dropdown to choose your Auction:

After that, select the language your spreadsheet’s content corresponds with (i.e. if you have translated the English Export to French, choose French):

Once you’ve selected a target language, in the blue bar below click Choose File and select the CSV Spreadsheet in your File Explorer/Finder:

Finally, leave Abort Upload on Error ticked and click Upload, then click Confirm in the confirmation window to proceed:

Your CSV Spreadsheet will now upload to the Webtron Dashboard, depending on the number of rows in this spreadsheet it may take up to a minute to complete. On completion, you’ll see a confirmation message saying “[#] lines of data from the file were successfully uploaded.” matching the number of content rows in your spreadsheet:

Common Errors

“The file was found to contain errors. ‘Abort on error’ selected so NO CONTENT was uploaded. Please correct these errors and attempt the upload again.

Column [# (Column Heading Name) – VALUE_MISSING

Line [#] has [#] error :”

The above message is one of the most common error messages when attempting to re-upload a spreadsheet through the Content menu.

A variation of this error message will appear if:

  • Your Spreadsheet is missing the required columns (Lot Number, Title, Summary, and Description), or
  • Your Spreadsheet contains less or more rows than there are Items in your Auction (i.e. a row doesn’t correspond with an existing item or you have added additional items after exporting your item content)

To fix this, we recommend Exporting a fresh version of your Auction Content and do not alter the number of columns or the column headings in the spreadsheet.
